You've Got The POWER!!!!

I have witnessed some of the greatest victories in the lives of others when they faced the most unimaginable situations and insurmountable odds.  Consider my grandmother, Mrs. Lillie B. Sullivan, who was married to my grandfather, whom I loved dearly, but was an alcoholic for most of his life and rarely had a job.  They had nine children, and she worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and her highest wage never exceeded $8 an hour.  She did not own a vehicle and she did not drive.  Also, living in her home for many years was her handicapped sister, who could not walk, talk, feed or care for herself in anyway.  YET, Lillie B. Sullivan, my SHERO, was always at work on time, worshipped every Sunday and throughout the week (when she was not at work), baked the communion bread and served as a highly respected mother of her church for over 50 years, and baked and sold more than 500 cakes a year, most of which happened between the Thanksgiving Holidays and the new year.  Lille was well respected in her community and fed tens, maybe even hundreds of strangers in her own home, even if it was just a pot of great northern beans and cornbread on the stove.  NOW, THIS IS THE KICKER, my grandmother passed away when I was 28 years old, and in those years of spending ample time with her, I never heard her complain about her life’s circumstances, argue with anyone, degrade anyone and speak of giving up.  My grandmother, though living in what most of us would consider “lack”, didn’t get the memo.  No matter what her conditions were, she flowed through life as if she lived in abundance, because she believed that she did! And, that my friends is POWER!!! Find yours, because you’ve got it too!!!  #POWERUP
